ANTONINO BORRIELLO THE NEW KING OF PIZZA IN BEIJING

  • The chef of Prego restaurant in the Westin Hotel has won the second edition of the Best Italian Pizza competition in Beijing, being held in the occasion of the 10th Italian Cuisine and wines World Summit. Antonino won both categories, the Pizza Napoletana and the Classica gourmet in a tight contest held on the terrace of the Ritz Carlton Hotel.

    The jury was formed by Michelin starred chefs Alfonso Caputo (La Taverna del Capitano) e Crescenzo Scotti (Il Flauto di Pan), the chef Maitre-a-penser Pietro Zito (Antichi sapori – Montegrotto), Vinicio Eminenti, gastronomer and delegate of the Accademia Italiana della Cucina in China, and Rosario Scarpato, Director of the Summit.

    The competition helped to restablish the reputation of Italian authentic pizza in a city in which American sort of pies with cheese, tomatoes and pineapple, are presented as Pizza.

    Third: Liu Yaqui, Bella Vita Tianjin
