Located just a few meters from the Sanctuary and archaeological site at Pompeii, the President Restaurant is the ideal place for a truly memorable dining experience.
The kitchen brigade is coordinated by chef and owner Paolo Gramaglia who, after completing his mathematical studies, converted his passion for history and travel into creating unique gastronomic expressions at the President, closely following the teachings of his father Salvatore, and attentive to the territory of his origins.
Meals there are a continuous voyage of discovery: from the reinterpretation of traditional recipes of the Campania region, to the reworking of ancient recipes from the Domus Pompeiana, combined with the excellence of European cuisine and flavours from overseas. These pleasures of the palate are presented in the restaurant’s stylish dining room, with grace and elegance by co-owner and manager Laila Buondonno and her team of highly-trained professionals, attentive to their customers’ every need and request.
The President was established in 1993 as a family business. In 2006, Paolo took on the sole command of the restaurant, giving a more specific, personalized character to the ambience and the kitchen; the accolades and awards, both domestic and foreign, soon followed, from the most influential leaders of the industry: Michelin, Espresso, Gambero Rosso, Slow Food, Touring, Routard, and the Globetrotter Travel Guide, just to name a few. In 2015, Paolo Gramaglia received his first hat from the Espresso Guide and then the consecration of great gastronomy, a prestigious Michelin star.
